CEO and Co-founder of Oceanium
Karen Scofield Seal is the CEO and co-founder of Oceanium, a Scottish startup developing marine-safe bio packaging and plant-based food and nutrition products from sustainably farmed seaweed. During the 90s she lived in New York working as Senior Manager and Producer for the National Football League, as Production Supervisor and Event director at the US OPEN Tennis, and as Coordinating Producer at ABC News.She later moved to London with her husband, where she worked in Comic Relief and in RED, liaising with Apple, American Express and Converse partnerships. In 2009 she co-founded LUCZA, a luxury e-commerce active since 2014. There, she executed marketing and PR strategies including offline and online initiatives.

Co-founder and CTO of Allozymes
Akbar Vahidi is an Iranian researcher turned entrepreneur based in Singapore. After graduating in 2010 with a bachelor’s in chemical engineering from Sharif University of Technology, he pursued a PhD in chemical and biomolecular engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Vahidi earned his PhD in 2015 and briefly worked as a research fellow at Nanyang Technological University before returning to NUS to pursue research.At NUS, he was a part of a research group that developed a new enzyme screening method based on microfluidics technology. With fellow NUS PhD graduate Peyman Salehian, Vahidi secured an exclusive license to use the technology and established Allozymes, a startup that offers enzyme engineering services. Vahidi became the CTO of Allozymes.

Su Hua quit his PhD studies at China’s prestigious Tsinghua University. In 2006, he joined Google as an engineer working on ads search. In October 2008, he left Google and started over 33 projects but all failed.A year later, he joined Baidu and worked for over two years as a core engineer and team leader for its search engine marketing system Fengchao. He left Baidu to establish search engine startup One Box that was acquired by Alibaba.In June 2013, Su was introduced to Cheng Yixiao who had already founded GIF Kuaishou in 2011. They decided to join forces and pivot GIF Kuaishou into a video-sharing app, with Su as CEO and Cheng as CPO.

She also spent time in Brazil at the Spanish Chamber of Business and Industry, and at Henkel in San Francisco, working in business intelligence and marketing. She holds a degree in Business Management from Carlos III University of Madrid.

In 2008, he established Secoo, a secondhand goods business that soon grew into a luxury consignment, then pure luxury, online-to-offline empire, fueled by the dizzying growth of high-end consumption in China. Today, Li is Chairman of Secoo.

Cai received a degree in engineering from Université de Technologie de Troyes in 2011. She specialized in product management and joined GDP Labs in 2015 as senior principal product manager for the internal research and venture building arm. In 2017, she founded Catapa and became the CEO of the HRtech startup that was internally incubated at GDP Labs. The Information Systems and Management graduate had two years' experience in HR as supervisor of internationalization and people career development at her alma mater BINUS University.

Winner of the 2016 EU Prize for Women Innovators, Portuguese national Susana Sargento has been a professor at the University of Aveiro for almost 16 years. She received her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the same university. Her main research interests are self-organized networks, e.g., routing, mobility, delay-tolerant mechanisms and content distribution networks, in ad-hoc and vehicular mechanisms and protocols. In 2012, she co-founded Veniam, a tech startup for connected and autonomous vehicles, where she also worked in engineering and corporate research from 2012 until 2014. She advises the European Commission in her areas of expertise.

He used the same name of a company he founded in 2012 and ran with a different team, which was dissolved in 2016. He is the son of the inventor of the technology, Sergio Rico Velasco, and was instrumental in positioning the product’s use from residual waste water treatment to agritech. Rico previously worked in a private school, Indo-American College, in Tlalnepantla in the State of Mexico City as a systems administrator. He graduated as an engineer in Electrical Systems from Monterrey University, Mexico City campus.

Pastor holds a bachelor’s in psychology from the University of Barcelona and a Masters in Research in neuroscience from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Prior to HumanITcare, she worked as a researcher at the Hospital del Mar Research Institute and the University of Barcelona. She has also worked as Business Analyst in EIT Health and has mentored at the European Commission.
