Shadow Chi graduated with a bachelor's degree in design from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2008 and received his master‘s degree in computer-aided design from Tongji University in 2013. He specializes in innovative product design and development, and has worked at ZTE Corporation, China Merchants Bank, and ARKIE as product architect and designer. He founded online community MixLab in 2016 and has built it into an interdisciplinary hub for more than 35,000 designers and programmers.  After co-founding Get.AI in 2018, he has served as its AI Product Architect. 

Freire Rodrigues is the Portuguese co-founder and CEO at UpHill, whose SaaS helps healthcare professionals keep up-to-speed on the latest clinical treatments and protocols using AI. He also continues to be an invited assistant teacher at Lisbon’s NOVA Medical School’s Faculty of Medical Sciences, where he completed a master’s in Medicine and worked full-time for three years prior to UpHill. He additionally collaborates in public healthcare at the ARSLVT healthcare company in Lisbon. He has worked as a resident physician at public hospitals in Lisbon and Paris.Freire Rodrigues also completed clinical scholars research training at Harvard Medical School and gained a qualification in Information Management and Business Intelligence in Healthcare at NOVA Information Management School in Lisbon.

Zhang Haoqian completed a doctorate degree in systems and synthetic biology at Peking University in 2016. He has published more than 20 papers in international academic journals. In 2019, he was honored as one of China's 100 Most Creative People in Business. He is also a member of the Synthetic Biology Committee under China Society of Biotechnology.Peking University has participated in the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competitions, with Zhang as a team member or leader between 2008 and 2010. The team has won gold medals twice at the iGEM competitions supported by MIT. He was also coaching the university’s iGEM team from 2011 until 2017. Zhang also founded the committee of China iGEMer Community.In 2010, Zhang met fellow iGEMer and Bluepha co-founder Li Teng at the iGEM giant jamboree event. They co-founded SynBio startup Bluepha in 2016, a spin-off from Tsinghua University.

Chen Chen is an expert in artificial heart development. After graduating from Tsinghua University with a major in Thermal Engineering in 1984, he switched to study Biomechanics in Sichuan University and received a doctorate in 1991.He lectured at Nanjing University from 1991 to 1996 before going to Japan to continue his research on artificial heart technology and development. He was a visiting scholar at the University of Tokyo for one year until 1997.In 1999, Chen was headhunted and joined a US startup to work on developing an artificial heart (LVAD) product Levacor. The startup was later acquired by World Heart Corporation and Chen became its chief engineer. World Heart decided to shut down the program in 2006 because the product was too big to be placed inside a human chest.Chen went back to China in 2007 to found CH Biomedical to build a smaller LVAD device.

Ali Harlin completed two doctorates in chemical engineering and in polymer science in 1995 and 1996 respectively. He spent 11 years developing the Borstar technology related to bimodal PE and PP. He has also worked as a research director for packaging materials and cable machinery. He currently works as a research professor and lecturer at two local universities in Finland. In 2003, he joined Tampere University of Technology as a professor for fiber materials and technical textiles. In 2014, he also started lecturing at LUT University as a professor specializing in packaging and polymeric materials.Since 2005, the industrial biomaterial specialist has also been working at the Technical Research Centre of Finland VTT where he became the product R&D team leader for Infinited Fiber, a startup he co-founded in 2016 with CEO Petri Alava.

Nganjuk native Hestyriani Anisa Widyaningsih (known as Nisa) was one of the few students from the rural regency to pursue tertiary education at the Gadjah Mada University (UGM) in Yogyakarta, where she majored in Japanese Literature. After graduation, Nisa and a UGM friend Rushan, decided to set up IWAK; a crowdfunding platform to kickstart commercial fish farming businesses to help poor families to improve their livelihoods in Rushan’s home village of Kebon Agung in Nganjuk. Nisa also works in public relations for another company, Otoman.

After graduating in 2004 from the Universitas Negeri Surabaya in Indonesia, Rubby Emir worked at various NGOs and social enterprises, including the Red Cross and Rainforest Alliance.In 2014, he co-founded a nonprofit enterprise Saujana, working on environmental conservation and social issues. In 2015, the Saujana team launched Kerjabilitas, a job search platform for disabled people in Indonesia. Rubby is also a senior project manager at the Humanitarian Benchmark Consulting that provides consulting and support services for humanitarian activities.

Agung Nugroho, a graduate in Chemical Engineering at the Institut Teknologi Bandung in Indonesia, began his career at Jakarta’s Boston Consulting Group in 2008. He was promoted to a consultant role in 2012 but left later that year to embark on an MBA program at the Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley. In 2014, he co-founded PT Kudo Teknologi Indonesia, an online-to-offline startup. Agung is also a curator at the Global Shapers Community, a youth-centric initiative by the World Economic Forum.

Co-founder and CEO of Trio.AI. Wang, who received his doctorate in Computer Science from University College London, has a decade of experience in the fields of intelligent interaction, machine learning, domain-specific dialogue systems and multi-turn dialogues. Acting in a leading role, he helped established Toshiba’s first-generation dialogue system in 2010.After returning to China in 2015, he worked at Baidu as a decision maker for its Xiaodu robot project, now known as DuerOS.

Founder, CEO and CTO of Zhen Robotics. An expert in AI and robotics, Liu Zhiyong used to work at Alibaba as the technical leader of its AI program “Wall-e Super Brain.” He has a master’s degree in Machine Learning and Robotics from Tsinghua University. He pursued a doctoral degree in Computer Science at ETH Zurich but never finished. He has also performed research in AI and robotics at Imperial College London. He has published more than ten papers in top journals and owns several invention patents.

Rubén Muñoz Trapote holds a double degree in Economics and Actuarial Science and a degree in Finance.He’s one of the co-founders of Mr. Jeff, an online dry cleaning and laundry service with a presence in Europe, Asia and Latin America. There, he is responsible for the planning, implementation and management of online marketing strategy, focused on mobile-user acquisition and retention.Prior to Mr. Jeff, Muñoz mainly worked in financial and administration departments in diverse industry sectors.

Christophe Mallet is the French co-founder and CEO of UK-based VR edtech for soft-skills training Bodyswaps, where he has worked since its founding in 2019. Prior to this, he was CEO and co-founder at VR marketing agency Somewhere Else from 2016 before the agency pivoted to training and skills development and became the basis of Bodyswaps’ product offer. The agency had clients such as Adidas, for which Somewhere Else produced an interactive VR in-store promotional tool that was deployed in over 100 locations in China, Europe and the US and was nominated for a VR Award and an Immersive Perspective award. Mallet also co-founded another VR agency Exheb, forerunner to Somewhere Else in 2014.For almost six years before that, Mallet worked in social media and digital strategy management at Carve Consulting in London, a digital agency helping organisations to become social businesses.  Mallet also co-founded a music label, Ubermax Records, in 2011.Mallet holds two master’s degrees: Science in Management and Business from the HEC School of Management in Paris, and International Business and Management from Vienna University of Economics and Management.  

Born in 1987, Shi Hengzhi is a serial entrepreneur. Before founding Yigongli in 2013, he founded three startups including WishBird, a consultancy firm for overseas studies. He holds a master's degree in Economics from Cambridge University.

A Changsha native, Lyu Liang has professional work experience in advertising planning. He became an entrepreneur at the age of 38 and launched Modern China Tea Shop in his Hunan provincial hometown Changsha in December 2013.
