Founder and CEO of Orain
Xavier Sans Serra is the founder and CEO of payment and interactive chat app and IoT hardware startup Orain. He is based in Barcelona, where he has worked since 2016. Prior to this, he founded two other tech startups: Knowxel, which has been in operation from 2013 to 2016, and Neqta, which operated from 2011 to 2013. Knowxel was a social network for seeking skilled people for one-off work projects while Neqta was a research project to develop hardware to power portable devices. Both companies were developed at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, where the initial development of Orain also took place. Sans holds two master's degrees from Barcelona's Ramon Llull University: one in Engineering and Telecommunications Engineering and the other in Networks and Telecommunications. Sarah Hordern is a co-founder, CFO and Group Development Leader at UK-based Modulous, the first end-to-end generative design and delivery solution for affordable, sustainable and modulized housing, where she has worked since 2019. She is simultaneously a non-executive director at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and at lenders Newbury Building Society. She was previously executive advisor at the Cambridge Code 2018-19, the first digital tool that measures subconscious drivers of behavior, and spent two years as COO at residential management company Meyrick Estate Management. From 1999 to 2014, she was a joint managing director in the area of property and finance at Newbury Racecourse, one of the UK’s largest horse-racing establishments, where she was responsible for the design and commercial negotiations for a new community of 1,500 homes. Prior to this, Hordern spent five years at PwC in corporate tax management. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Oxford University in Politics, Philosophy and Economics.

Entrepreneur First is a global entrepreneur incubator program and early-startup investor. The incubator is an intensive six-month program for founders and aspiring entrepreneurs to help them develop ideas that can go into building their own companies. The program is held in six cities around the world: Bangalore; Berlin, London, Paris, Singapore and Toronto (Canada).Participants do not need to have a startup or a specific business idea to participate, and those who have established their own companies can seek partners or co-founders at the program. Roughly 40-50% of the cohort reach the “Launch” phase, where the participants have established their own companies and received investments from Entrepreneur First and potentially other VCs. Entrepreneur First can invest in a startup built by program participants in exchange for 10% equity. The exact amount invested varies: £80,000 for the European programs; S$75,000 for the Singapore and Bangalore programs; and C$100,000 for the Canada program.

She worked at a local radio station while reading an Advertising and Public Relations degree at Universidad CEU San Pablo in Madrid. After graduation in 2004, she embarked on a career in marketing and social media, becoming the Director of Communications for the Spanish Twitter or Tweet Awards in 2011. She also created one of Spain’s oldest Instagram community “Instagramers Comunitat Valenciana”. In 2014, García co-founded Influencity and became its CMO, managing brand communication and digital strategies for “Influencers” worldwide.

Between 2017 and 2019, he worked as the CTO of P2P lending startup Taralite. After Taralite was acquired by Lippo-affiliated mobile payment company OVO, he became a product lead within OVO’s ecosystem. In September 2019, he and Taralite co-founder Abraham Viktor, who had also joined OVO, decided to establish Hangry. Tan now handles tech and marketing for Hangry.Prior to his career at Taralite, Tan had worked as an analyst and associate for JP Morgan & Chase, based in Singapore.
