Triputra Group is an Indonesian conglomerate with businesses in agriculture, manufacturing, trading and mining. It also runs a pension fund and a charitable foundation. The conglomerate was founded in 1998 by Theodore Permadi Rachmat, the former CEO of the Astra Group. It is a recent entrant in the startup investing scene; in 2018, it invested in retail startup Warung Pintar and fishery automation company eFishery.

WPS is a subsidiary of Kingsoft Corporation, one of the first Internet services and software companies in China. Its flagship product, WPS Office, which runs on iOS, Android, Windows and Linux, is one of the world’s most commonly used office suites. With over 900 employees, WPS has offices in mainland China, Hong Kong and the US.

Established by Chinese Academy of Sciences Holdings Co., Ltd., and several other conglomerates in 2011, Cash Capital invests mainly in high-tech startups in the IoT, intelligent manufacturing, mobile internet, big data, artificial intelligence, fintech, healthcare, medical equipment and pharmaceutical sectors. The firm manages assets of more than RMB 10 billion and has invested in nearly 100 companies.

Spring Fund was founded in Beijing in May 2015 with RMB 300m initial funding. Its cornerstone investors include government guidance funds and Chunyu Mobile Health. Spring Fund mainly invests in the early stages of mobile healthtechs and startups with focus on intelligent hardware, smart assistance, online diagnosis, chronic disease management, cross-border healthcare, rural areas and the elderly population.

REDangels is a Portuguese angel investor enterprise that specializes in pre-seed and seed investments in Portuguese and European startups across various sectors. There are 56 business angels working for REDangels which currently has 26 startups in its portfolio. It most recent investments include the seed rounds of sound design CGI software company Sound Particles and digital identity lifestyle manager Loqr. 

Portuguese venture capital firm Best Horizon was established in 2014. Since then, its portfolio has grown to about 50 companies based in Portugal, Spain, the Netherlands, Brazil and the US. The firm has €3m in two investment vehicles for pre-seed and seed investments in tech companies that either have their headquarters or a subsidiary in the North, Centre, Alentejo and Azores regions of Portugal.

Zhongke Turing (CASTuring) was jointly set up by the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Institution of Computing Technology, the Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission and private VC firms, including Pioneer Investment, in 2019. It provides seed funding and incubation services to businesses from emerging industries deemed as strategically important, including but not limited to chipmaking, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things and big data. 

AngelPad is a New York and San Francisco-based accelerator program for seed-stage companies. Established in 2010, AngelPad has been ranked by MIT and others as the number one acceleration program in the US. It has invested in more than 150 companies, with recent investments in HypeLabs from Portugal and the US$4.5m seed round of local autonomous logistics vehicle maker Gatik.

Astra International is an Indonesian conglomerate most famous for its automotive importing and related businesses, although it has subsidiaries in finance, agri-business and property as well. The holding company, PT Astra International Tbk., is listed in the Indonesian stock exchange. Its investments so far have been focused in Indonesia. Companies like Gojek, Sayurbox, and Halodoc have become part of Astra’s portfolio.

With New Hope Group, one of China’s biggest agriculture and food businesses, as its cornerstone investor, HosenCare Brothers had operated as a PE arm within the group for nearly a decade. In 2017, it began to operate under its current name. It currently manages assets worth more than RMB 3bn, and mainly invests in sectors of medtech, healthcare, biotechnology and smart manufacturing. 

Founded in 1994, Fosun Pharma covers all key sectors of the pharmaceutical and healthcare industrial chain. It has been aggressively expanding globally, conducting investment and M&As in healthcare industries.

Founder of Xiongxin Capital, Wang Guanxiong used to work in Alibaba, Wanda, 360 and Linekong. He is one of the top 10 We Media and a KOL in tech business in China.

Khosla Ventures is a Silicon Valley-based VC, founded in 2004 by Indian-born founder of tech pioneer Sun Microsystems Vinod Khosla. The company has no specific interest in terms of sector but heavily favors “large problems that are amenable to technology solutions” and invests in so-called high potential  'black swans´. Healthcare is a strong focus and its most recent investments include in the Portuguese home physiotherapy tech solution SWORD Health's 2021 $85m Series C and $25m Series B rounds besides its 2020 $17m Series A round which it led. Khosla has over $5bn under management and more than 70 staff, with investments in more than 700 startups, leading more than one-third. Other recent investments include in the July 2021 $75m Series C round of Indian personal health and fitness app HealthifyMe and, the same month, in the $12.5m Series A round of US commercial real estate app for tenants and property managers Jones. 

Chris Bone is co-founder and CEO at UK-based Modulous, the first end-to-end generative design and delivery solution for affordable, sustainable and modulized housing, where he has worked since 2018. He is simultaneously director and co-founder at engineering consultancy Optimise, based in London and Dubai, where he has worked since 2012 and where the concept for Modulous was conceived. Prior to these, Bone was CEO at engineering company Bone Steel from 2008-10, founder and director at Globalsport from 2005-8, and founder and managing director at Safe Consulting, part of engineering consultancy WhitbyBird from 1999-2004.  His experience has included working on major projects, including Wembley Stadium, BBC Broadcasting House and the Royal Ballet School, as well as designing a process for automating  fire protection for steel buildings.  

Pierre Fillard is Chief Science Officer and co-founder of Therapixel, creator of AI-powered breast cancer screening and diagnosis software MammoScreen. At Therapixel, he previously held the positions of CEO and CTO. Before founding Therapixel, Fillard was a senior research scientist at INRIA (National Institute for Research in Digital Science and Technology), where he focused on medical imaging and image processing. He has also been a visiting lecturer at CPE Lyon, a research associate at the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Agencies Commission, a PhD candidate at INRIA, and a research assistant at the University of North Carolina. He has a diploma from the HEC School of Management, a master’s in science, mathematics and computer science from the Université Jean Monnet Saint-Etienne and a degree in engineering, computer science, and applied mathematics from the Ecole Supérieure de Chimie Physique Electronique de Lyon.
